David Duchovny & X Files Movie..What WILL the Wife Say?
I bet you are wondering what this has to do with marriage.
I certainly don’t follow movies or movie stars because, frankly my dear, I don’t give a…durn.
However, I get google alerts for anything that discusses Tea..because of Kettle & Cup. David Duchovny’s wife happens to be named, Tea. There ya go…random, but that is how this post came into being.
Anyway, the article blurb says: Duchnovny Scared of Reaction to Sex Scene. I admit, it piqued my interest.
It seems that the actor had a steamy kiss with co star Gillian Anderson and was concerned at how his wife was going to deal with it. He mentioned he was glad to be in Canada, well out of range for nuclear fall out.
Then it was revealed that their next move together will be “even more explicit”. I guess he isn’t THAT scared, huh?
So, here is my question. Could you be an actor or an actress? Let’s face it they seem to get pretty intimate with co-stars on a regular basis. More importantly could you be married to an actor or actress?
I have some real questions about this.
First of all, do you really think that the actors/actresses are able to do a steamy scene without being affected by it?
If they are affected by it (and I am sure they are) wouldn’t that be infidelity? If they are getting paid, then why isn’t it prostitution…and why do we flock to theaters to pay money to see people get paid for cheating on their spouses?
Seriously, If I saw Marc kissing someone I would have serious issues and so would he. The difference would be that his would be medical, while mine would be legal in nature. I guess I am not mature enough to watch my (very hot) husband make out with anyone that isn’t me.
Maybe it is easier to handle when you can forget about it by flying your private jet to Paris for lunch and a manicure?
Thoughts?

Yeah, I’m pretty sure I couldn’t deal with it. Then again, I got annoyed when one of my husband’s female coworkers gave him some little trinket/figurine from a movie that she heard he liked… and I think she was like 50 years older than him. Yes, I’m exaggerating; No, you won’t catch me watching him make out with someone on the big screen.
Our family had a discussion the other night about why Hollywood stars always seem to end up dating their co-stars. Not too tough to figure out, right?

Ya think it has anything to do with them being naked together hours ever day?

No way, no how, nuh-uh. There is no way actors don’t get affected by sexual simulation on the set. And once your mind is there, you’ve crossed the line, in my book. So yea, I guess it is infidelity….but sex sells…and so many people have open swinging marriages nowadays. We’re just prudes, Marye!!

See, that is my thought to. If he was so worried about his wife’s reaction then by the law of smoke/fire he knew what he was doing was wrong.
Prudes? Nahhh…wait til I do my french maid post….

I agree with all the above commenters. It seems actors get a free pass on behavior that would generally be totally unacceptable within the confines of marriage because it’s for their “job.” PUH-lease. I work hard to never put myself in a situation that might even look inappropriate. I think my husband should do the same.

I KNOW I couldn’t deal with it. I mean seriously Whether there was any attraction or not there would always be a doubt in my mind as to if he was thinking about her when he kisses me. It would make me crazy!
As far as actors? I suppose it depends on them and the relationship with their wife.
It didn’t do any good for Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston. They split up shortly after Brad and Angelina made Mr and Mrs Smith.

Fern, I totally agree. But don;t you think that in general they are more or less forced into the behavior by the public demand for that stuff in movies? It is, after all, their job….
Erynne-Maybe actor couples should only make movies TOGETHER. That is what alot of them did in the Glory Days of Hollywood. Couples working together in movies…

ok, I’m going to be the odd one out here and say, yes. I could be an actress… and actually wanted to persue a career in it at one point in time. I truely look at most acting the same way I look at nudes in art. It’s art. I believe (and have no way of backing this up) that most of the stars that jump from ‘relationship’ to ‘relationship’ have many other issues, much more serious than an extremly steamy onscreen kiss.

Oh I think they have many more issues Monica…but I just can’t imagine not getting attached to someone you are cuddling half naked with 12 hours a day…
