Say What? Just Write It!
One of the (many) things I do appreciate about Marc is that he has worked hard to overcome the language barrier between us.
You see, he is a talker and I am a writer.
Talk is great but if you really want to capture my undivided attention put it in writing. It seemed to me that when I was reading the Five Love Languages the chapter on Words of Affirmation should have been broken down into the spoken and the written.
It is just that when someone says to me…”Wow, you did a great job on that cake.” There seems to be another voice in my head that refutes it. But…when I read something the other voice doesn’t seem to interfere and I get the full benefit of the affirmation.
It seems that I am not the only one. I mean,I have talked to other people, both men and women, who are Words of Affirmation people and they are divided on whether the spoken or the written word is more effective.
So, which is it for you? Are you more affected by the spoken word? Or does a steamy email grab your attention?
