Marriage Actually - An honest look at marriage

He’s my mule…

Not my drug mule…..my candy mule.

Today marks our 11th Anniversary (yay, us!), so we celebrated by dropping the kids off at grandma’s (thanks, grandma) and ran off to see Baby Mama. If you enjoy the Fey-Poehler comedy team, you’ll love this flick. (That’s not a guarantee, btw, just an educated assumption. :P)

So, anyway, we’re not rich. But even if we were, I really can’t stand the thought of paying 3 or 4 bucks for a box of candy at the movies. That’s not to say I’ve never done it, but boy am I pissy as I munch through that box of Snow Caps. (Okay, who’s kidding who? Snow Caps are way too happy a food to consume while pissy.) Anyway, I hate how much they can charge for pre-made popcorn and unimaginable amounts of soda.

So, today I cheated. On the way to the movies, we stopped at the dollar store for a box of Whoppers. Guess how much they cost? Oh good, you were paying attention. ONE DOLLAR! For what would have been about 3.50 at the movies (that’s almost a gallon of gas nowadays!!!).

One problem…..I didn’t have a purse with me. I hate carrying a purse, especially on (almost) carefree summer days. So, I tried putting it in my pocket with my sweatshirt wrapped around my waist. No good. The very tip of the box could be seen, no matter how I placed the sweatshirt. Well, all except for just wearing the thing backward. And, yes, the corner of the box showing would have bothered me. If you know me at all, you know that I’m terrified of getting caught breaking rules, no matter how stupid the rule.

Finally, I asked Bald Man if he could wrap it up in the sweatshirt that he was carrying. That’s when he accused me of using him as a mule. I said it was that or the Whoppers were going down my pants. So, in the end, he was a willing mule (not that he had a choice :P).

Yeah, he’s been married to 11 years of my craziness. Congrats to him. :P

What kinds of silly things do you ask of your spouse?

When my husband and I go to movies, we argue over who has to hold the keys, phones, etc. Usually, the person with the smallest pockets wins the argument. I should probably give in and start wearing sweats everywhere, like he does.

Happy 11th anniversary guys! Wow can you believe 11 years. Still remember your wedding day!:) Have a fun day! Sounds like it is going well. Hopefully Grandma has the kids for the day!

    Love ya,

We don’t buy candy and drinks at the theater either. The admission costs enough by itself! Since we don’t make it to the theater very often (lack of babysitter) we usually just go to the $2 theater because the old movies are new to us! lol

The Wife: When I used to carry a purse, it made it much less of an issue. But sounds like your hubby is playing the system pretty well. :P

Annie: Thanks :) We made it out for a movie last night.

TK: We’re the same! It was 20.50 just for movie tickets last night. That’s why they only see us there once or twice a year! The library and video store keep us up on the not-quite-new movies nowadays. :)

I know what you mean. I just returned some movies to the library today. We used to have a Blockbuster monthly rental membership, but even it got too costly.

It’s not against the rules anymore to take your own candy into the movie theaters! They were sued awhile back because food was not the main product that they were selling, so…you can now take your own stuff in. There’s even a sandwich shop right by our theater that offers 2 sandwich meals and you get discount tickets so you can eat your food in the movies! :)
