Marriage Actually - An honest look at marriage

February Poll Wrap Up

by Bald Man on March 1st, 2008

Another month, another Marriage Actually poll in the bag. February gave us the obvious topic of Valentine’s Day. It’s always interesting to see how couples handle “romantic” holiday’s over the years. Do they stop commemorating these days, or do they continue? What part does aging or marital longevity play in that choice? Is it merely reflective of the cultural values in which the couple lives?

Interesting… to me at least.

What are your Valentine's Day plans?

Onto the wrap up, and it seems that the majority of you planned to go about your daily business this past Valentine’s Day. Perhaps the fact that it fell on a school night had something to do with that. Friday was only a day away!

Which is an interesting point in itself, illustrative of a tension in our own house. Kerri is very much a holiday person. And not just the holiday in general, but the actual day itself. Postponements are to be avoided at all costs… though I have noticed she’s a bit more tolerant of early celebrations, particularly at Christmas and on her birthday. ;)

I, on the other hand, had too many split Christmases and belated birthdays growing up. It has made be rather lackadaisical.

In the Battle of the Holiday, however, Kerri invariably wins. She is keen to celebrate, and I am keen to prevent her weeping. :)

So, depending on how you and yours have worked out the holiday conundrum, here’s hoping you had a delightful Valentine’s Day… or whatever. :)
