Marriage Actually - An honest look at marriage

On the eve of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day comes a story about the upcoming birth of his grandchild.

MLK’s son, MLK III, is announcing his 2 year marriage to long-time girlfriend, Arndrea Waters, which the couple apparently kept secret.

A couple of things come to mind when reading this. First, how hard it would be to keep a marriage secret from the world! I mean, easier for us because the world wouldn’t necessarily care. But to be the child of someone as well known as MLK and not let it out? Impressive. And second, how sad it is that this child will never have the privilege of knowing his grandfather and grandmother, Coretta Scott King. I know how excited our parents were at meeting our children, and it’s sad that the Kings were never able to experience that. And, finally, that MLK III and his wife will not get to introduce their parents to their child. It’s an amazing experience to love and adore a child so much, and to be able to introduce that child to the people who felt the same awe and joy over you.
