The Inn at Cedar Falls: Part 2
Though much of our anniversary trip was spent in our cozy cottage, we did get around to enjoying some of the natural surroundings. We also ventured into the quaint town nearby.
Hocking Hills, the area where the Inn at Cedar Falls is located, is home to a beautiful and peaceful wooded area. As expected from the name, the Inn was located right near Cedar Falls. While we did make it out on a 5 mile hike the first day thinking we were headed to the falls, only to be wrong, we still enjoyed the strolls through the forest and the arrival at Rose Lake. I imagine it is just breathtaking in the peak of the fall changing of the leaves. On our way out, however, we did take the much shorter hike to Cedar Falls and were well rewarded for not giving up on seeing them!

Bald Man is there on the bottom left, and stands about 6 feet tall. Though I think the falls are more substantial in the spring, they were still well worth the trip. We passed many large icicles already hanging off of the edges of the rocks!

One of our favorite parts of the trip was the time we spent in a local cafe. We drove into the small town of Logan, Ohio, which was about 15 minutes from our cottage (a long fifteen minutes if you’re not used to driving up and down hills and around curves with a city-boy driver who is having way too much fun on those hills and curves!). We took a morning and just sat and drank tea and coffee while doing crossword puzzles and reading the paper. Hours of sitting and sipping and reading and puzzling. You just can’t do that with three little kids around! Check out The Spotted Owl if you’re in Logan and just need a friendly place to sit a spell!
So, overall, a great choice for our trip. We were able to cash in on a special buy-one/get-one night in the cottage, which made it all very affordable. :D I’m ready to head back to see it all in a different season! This is definitely a destination that we’ll continue recommend, and hopefully return to soon. :)

I love Hocking Hills. I haven’t been there for a few years, but the last time we went it was about this time of year, so your photo brought back some great memories.
