Marriage Actually - An honest look at marriage

Happy Halloween!

by Kerri on October 31st, 2007

pumpkinma.jpgBeing that we’re parents of little ones right now, Halloween is all about the kids. This year we had a fairy princess, a ghost (very specifically a naughty ghost and not a nice one, he said!), and Bob the Builder.

Someday, though, I’m hoping we’ll re-enter the land of adulthood and get invited to parties for our own attributes instead of being required to cart around members of the Lollipop Guild to present other such members with noisy, battery-consuming gifts.

Anyway, I’m starting up my list of good couple costumes, should the glorious day of invitation ever occur. And, of course, if I could actually convince Bald Man to dress up with me. :D

Here’s my list so far:

Sonny and Cher-Actually, my neighbor mentioned this one last night and it sounded fun. I always wanted long straight, straight, straight dark hair!

Homer and Marge-We’d have to get Bald Man some semblance of a belly, but he’s got the hair down pat. :P

Lucy and Desi-Though, if you’ve seen any photos of us, you’d realize we might have to switch gender roles with this one!

Peanut Butter and Jelly
-Sometimes I think this man loves PB more than me! Not really, but it might be a close call between his favorite sandwich spread and his offspring. :P

Dr. Phil and Oprah-haha. :) Sorry, must’ve been possessed by Mr. Letterman for a moment there.

Any other suggestions for us? Do you dress up for Halloween?

It’s a good thing my husband didn’t dress up during trick or treating. He’s 6′4″ and just loves kids, but he does tend to make little people nervous when they don’t know him. A costume would have sent a couple little ones running!

On the Sonny/Cher costume - The straight hair comment - you must have curly hair too. I’m with you on that one!

Our daughter was TinkerBell and I was Wendy and my husband was Peter Pan.

Heather: I do have curly hair, or it’s more frizzy if I forego the appropriate hair product on a given day! Gotta love the frizz-ease. :)

Holly: Family costumes! I might have to think on that one. My oldest was Snow White one year, and her brother (the only one she had at the time) was Dopey. I think the Huntsman and the Wicked Queen might’ve scared a few people!

I didn’t even get our youngest a costume until the afternoon of halloween!

I am so stressed and frazzled that I can’t imagine ever getting to dress like my true self ever again.

Kate: I remember making my oldest’s first costume for her about 20 minutes before our trick or treaters were about to arrive! I think that’s one of our most frazzled nights of the year. :) Maybe you and I can hook up and go as the remaining carnage of motherhood. :P
