Marriage Actually - An honest look at marriage

Marriage Fitness 1

by Bald Man on September 27th, 2007

I recently completed a book on marriage, and it’s time to start blogging through it. The book, Marriage Fitness: 4 Steps to Building & Maintaining Phenomenal Love by Mort Fertel, was recommended by Joanne back when I put out a call for interesting books on the subject of marriage. If you have your own book to recommend, it’s never to late to add something to my library wish list. We love books at this house.

I’ll go into greater detail in future posts leaving this as an brief overview. The book has all of the opposing positives and negatives of a self-help book. On the positive side are hope, enthusiasm and the expectation that a couple can improve their marriage. On the negative flip side is an exuberance that at times resembles a sales pitch. On the positive side the book contains a number of practical suggestions. On the negative flip side, the book can been seen as simplistic in its one-size-fits-all approach.

Those things said, I think the book is certainly worth picking up from the library. There are a number of practical suggestions that can be useful; just don’t check your brain at the front cover and fail to think about your own marriage. Ultimately his approach isn’t focused on finding the right person but rather being the right person. We’ll look at this in greater detail later.

Anyone else read the book? Any other opinions out there?

There was a book that we were required to read before we got married. I believe it was called “the 5 love languages”. Sometimes, during a disagreement, i still go back to what i read in that book, especially since i hate to fight fair!

The book was Amazing! but the program was even better… it’s called the Marriage Fitness Tele-Boot Camp Program and it has seriously saved so many marriages… I think its because it works for everyone and every situation. For more info go to http://www.marriagefitness1.com
